Dozens of golf carts crisscrossed the country club golf course this past weekend, though their occupants were golfing for a cause, not a trophy. The Third Annual Grinch Golf was held at the Bainbridge Country Club on Saturday, with the event functioning as a fundraiser for the Bainbridge Salvation Army. While the last two years were marred by rainy weather and low turnout, this year saw sunny weather and 14 teams of four competing.

“The turnout was great this year,” Merreann McDonald said in an interview. “This year the tournament raised $771.” For members of the club, the entry fee was $20 and a cash or food donation to the Salvation Army, while it was $30 and a donation for non- members.

The winners of the tournament were Billy Lane, Lance Lane, Greg Inlow and Ty Inlow, with a total score of 53. Following them were Jason Priest, Will Powell, Chandler Hinton and Cason Priest with a score of 54. Tony Fabian, Tom Barlow, Howard Cartwright and Danny Anderson scored 55. Jacob Polsky, Matt Kraig, Mike Kraft and David McCoy came in with a score of 56. Rob McRae, Mallory McRae, Steve Bench and Ben Brooks netted a score of 57. Stanton Long, Nour Hasona, Seth Hall and Lawson Humphrey scored 58. Adam Kirbo, Lucas Bunch, Austin Griffin and Brandon Young scored a total of 59. Jim Griffin, Will Merritt, Tate Lambert and Sutton Reece scored 60. Tom Griffin, Richard Ivey, Doug Boger and Hehle Cole also scored 60. George Ball, Tommy Nix, Sean Hader and Steve Skeen scored 62. Michael Jones, Ed Jordan, John Watts and Billy Inlow also scored 62. Banks Miller, Michael Dalton, Mathis Coxon and Wil Giannars scored 64.
