The Bearcats took on the Westside Macon Seminoles on Saturday night at Centennial Field, where they held the Seminoles scoreless for the first postseason game since 1982.

The Bearcats opened up scoring on their first offensive play of the game.

Rashad Broadnax received the ball and made a 46-yard run in one play to score a touchdown with 10:28 left in the first.

Nicholas Tyre made the kick and it was good, giving the Bearcats a 7-0 lead.

With only 3:41 left in the first quarter, Trey Bouie made a 5-yard run after 10 plays and a 36-yard drive.

Blake Fagan then made the kick and it was good.

The second quarter was electric.

Broadnax made a 95-yard run in the second play of the quarter and made a touchdown with Tyre making the kick.

This run helped Broadnax get over 1000 yards of rushing for the season, making him the 12th Bearcat to do so in school history and the first Bearcat to do so since 2017.

Broadnax is set to break more records this season. He only needs 170 yards for 3000 yards of rushing in his career. In addition, he only needs two touchdowns to slide into second place on the all-time Bainbridge touchdown scoring list.

Following up Broadnax’s long run, Braxton Johnson received an 82-yard pass from Quayde Hawkins with 7:07 left in the second quarter and ran it for a touchdown. Fagan made the kick and it was good.
To end the second quarter, Hawkins threw Caleb Lewis a 17-yard pass following five plays and a 46-yard drive for a touchdown.

This throw made Hawkins perfect in the passing department for the second consecutive week, completing all six passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns. This led to Hawkins going over the 5000 career passing mark. He needs only four touchdown passes to have 50 in his career. This game also made Hawkins the only Bearcat player to eclipse 1500 yards passing for three consecutive years.

Going into halftime, the Bearcats led 35-0.

Coming out of halftime, Hawkins and Broadnax sat out due to the score, allowing for sophomore quarterback Bo Smith to step in.

Smith made quite the impression in the third quarter, when he threw a 72- yard pass to Ahmari Borden, who ran it for a touchdown after a 65-yard drive.

This was the final touchdown of the game, resulting in a 42-0 win for the Bearcats.

Head Coach Jeff Littleton could not have been prouder of the team.

“I’m real proud of our guys, in all three phases of the game we dominated,” he said. “It’s credit to our guys and the work we are doing in practice.”

Littleton said he still doesn’t believe the team has played their best game yet.

He hopes that will change on Friday night, when they play the Islands High School Sharks from Savanah at home at 7:30 in the second round of playoffs.

The Sharks are the number two seeded team for their region. Littleton said the Sharks were unable to play a full region schedule due to COVID-19, but have been up against local schools in their county.

“They have talented receivers and their strength is their defense,” Littleton said.

Receivers to look out for are senior Deion Duncan and junior Langston Lewis. Duncan is actually a two-way player and will be key in this playoff game.

Littleton said they also have a great safety, senior Benjamin Andrews and defensive tackle, senior Samuel Snead.

With their eyes on the prize, Littleton said the team is in good spirits and ready to move onto this round and take on the Sharks.
