It was a beautiful morning on Thursday for Bainbridge Public Safety Shift 2 officers to participate in Driver Training Exercises.  Fire Chief Doyle Welch oversaw each officer as they used a patrol vehicle and three fire engines to maneuver through four different sets of obstacles.  Without knocking over a cone, each driver was required to successfully complete a 3-point turn, backing into a bottleneck, driving through an area of diminishing clearance, and passing through a serpentine going forwards and backwards.

Bainbridge Public Safety officers receive dual-training and are certified as both a police officer and firefighter.  Because of this unique and exceptional training, officers must be proficient in driving a patrol vehicle as well as multiple types and sizes of fire trucks.

Participating in the training on Thursday were Deputy Director Frank Green, Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Deen, Captain Ryan Wimberley, Sergeant Josh Glover, Engineer Nick Godwin, and Officers Jason Hayes, Maria Bonilla, Jason Barlow, and Rob Green.
