Doreen Mihlfeld was born July 6, 1946 in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of Clarence and Eunice Thomas Mihlfeld. Dodie worked as a nurse for 42 years retiring from Humboldt General Hospital in Winnemucca, NV. She married Thomas Pulliam on January 18, 1988 and they made their home in Wyoming and Nevada returning to Dodie’s beloved South Georgia in 2015. She was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church.

Dodie spent her life caring for others. Her patients were more like family and she treated them as such. She always had an idea or a remedy for whatever ailed you. Dodie enjoyed country music, traveling (especially cruising), down home cooking, painting, and helping her husband with his photography. She was a great example of GRITS—Girls Raised In The South.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Tom Pulliam; her son, Russell Vaughn of TX; her step-children, Tony Pulliam, Ernie Pulliam, and Alexandra DeSpain, all of UT, Joel Pulliam of Japan, and Jake Pulliam of TX; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of cousins, including Elaine (Lamar) Barbree, Randy (Joy) Blocker, Judy (Kelly) Harde, Howard (Karen) Blocker, and Edward (Becky) Blocker; her sisters-in-law, Doris (Bob) Richter and Linda Pulliam; her brother-in-law, Joe (Helga) Pulliam; and her lifelong friend, Donna Saeli. In addition to her parents, Dodie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Stephen & Hattie Mihlfeld; her maternal grandparents, Howard & Lillie Thomas; her daughter, Cynthia Annette Vaughn; her sisters, Annette Mihlfeld and Lillie Arlene Elmer; and cousin, Jack Blocker. The Pulliam Family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to their neighbor and caregiver, Angela Donalson, for her kindness and compassion.
