The search for missing boater, Tim Mclaughlin ended on Tuesday morning, when a volunteer search boat found Mclaughlin’s body.

Mclaughlin went missing Sunday, after his wife said he went fishing and never returned.

DNR officer, Tony Cox said they received the call and found Mclaughlin’s boat nearly two hours later along the Flint River. Cox said the boat’s battery was dead, although the trolling knob on the boat was still at a level 5.

Cox said they continued to search for Mclaughlin into the evening and all through the night.

Finally, Tuesday his body was found near the entrance of Ten Mile Still Landing in Bainbridge.

Cox urges everyone to be careful. He said the day Mclaughlin went missing was a windy day, and weather can be unpredictable on the water. For this reason, he urges everyone to always wear a life vest. He knows it may not have saved Mclaughlin, but could’ve given him more time, while crews searched for him.

Cox is thankful to all volunteers, Decatur County Fire and Rescue and Decatur County Sheriff’s Office for their help in the search.
