Cougars place at Lee Co. Invitational

Grace Christian Academy participated in the 2020 Lee County Invitational on Saturday, where their boys varsity cross-country team placed 12th overall, their middle school boys team placing third and their middle school girls team placing 7th.

According to race results, 143 runners participated.

For varsity, Daniel Jones was the first runner to come in for Grace. He clocked a time of 20:18.4 and placed 20th.

Four minutes later, Kevin Brooks ran in with a time of 24:16.6, coming in 78th overall.

Barely one minute later, Ben York hustled in with a time of 25:19.2, placing 99th.

Pate Beckham clocked a time of 30:47.2, followed by Evan Sigman and Jay Lanier, who were mere seconds apart.

Sigman clocked a time of 31:04.6, while Lanier ran in at 31:14.6.

Middle school runner, Walker Elrod blew away the competition, placing third with a time of 12:32.5.

He was shortly followed up by Keith Eidson, who placed ninth with a time of 13:00.4

Dawson Worsley placed 26th with a time of 13:57.6. Only a few places behind Worsley was Owen Earnest, who placed 31st with a time of 14:02.8.

Seconds later, Trey Henderson ran in, placing 36th with a time of 14:17.4. Preston Barnett topped out the top 50 with a time of 15:07.6

Cade Wells ran in not far after with a time of 15:37.4 and finally John Walker finished off the race with a time of 23:59.5.

Kate Poitevint led the middle school girls, coming in sixth place with a time of 15:11.8. She was shortly followed up by Sybil Lee, who placed 27th with a time of 17:00.0.

Kara Overman ran a time of 17:37.3 and placed 36th. The girls team finished up with Goldie Gossett running a time of 21:19.4 and Kate Sigman running a time of 22:01.9.
