Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

As a new resident of Bainbridge and Decatur County, and the new general manager of The Post-Searchlight, I feel it is important to tell you a little about myself, my past experiences, and my hopes for the future. Fortunately, Mark Pope has agreed to continue with us at The Post-Searchlight in his former position as production manager, and I am deeply appreciative of his welcome and help to me in settling into my role. His decision to stay with us and postpone his retirement from what has been a lifetime pursuit for him is material to this operation and me.

I was raised in Victor, a small town in the Finger Lakes region of Western New York. At an early age, I learned the importance of a weekly community newspaper through our local publication, The Victor Herald. I loved to read cover to cover all about the local businesses, area happenings, and sports updates from the high school sports teams.

My professional career began the week after I graduated from college at State University of New York, Fredonia, just south of Buffalo. My first position was as a telephone sales representative for a Dayton, Ohio yellow page company. More than 30 years later, the print business is still in my blood, now mixed with major digital advertising experience. As my roles and responsibilities expanded over the decades, one thing remains constant; it is still all about the community served, our team, and the success we achieve. I love teaching and being the team coach, and it is my firm belief development of people is any leader’s number one job. Ultimately, helping customers and team members achieve their highest goals – some higher than their own imaginations — is what I am proudest of in my career.

My goal in serving this community and those I work with at The Post-Searchlight is to produce the best print and digital products possible. I seek what we deliver to be – for lack of a better expression– of value from beginning to end, and to produce quantifiable results for those who partner with us to find information they need and those who trust us to advertise their businesses.

I bring with me my wife, Karyn, my rock and the cornerstone of our family. Together, we have raised three children we deem remarkable, and Karyn and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary later this year.  We are each avid volunteers who love getting involved in the community. Some of our many interests include Junior Achievement, the American Red Cross, The American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and Rotary International.

I have already begun my rounds to meet with many of the leaders of this wonderful area, and I would welcome an opportunity to meet with all such, too, including all who have read my thoughts today.  So, please stop by The Post-Searchlight for a visit, or call me at 205-523-5370. I am available by email at charles.callari@thepostsearchlight.com.

The opportunities ahead for us all are endless, and I look forward to playing a role in the growth and prosperity of Bainbridge and Decatur County.
