Memories Car Club held a cruise-in at Boyd’s BBQ on Saturday afternoon, where they began selling raffle tickets for their upcoming project to benefit a needy family during Thanksgiving.

Russell Boyd, owner of Boyd’s BBQ and a member of the club, said he loves hosting the cruise-ins; he said it allows for the club to meet safely, but also allows for by passers to park and view the collectible cars, while enjoying a meal and visiting with fellow car enthusiasts.

Boyd said the cruise-ins attract visitors from Havana, Cairo and Tallahassee.

“It gives people the chance to walk around and look a little bit,” Boyd said. “And it gives us a chance to recruit new members- we need a lot of members.”

The reason the club needs multiple new members is to help with their new project.

Memories Car Club President, Denise Webb explained that the club is selling raffle tickets to raise money for a Thanksgiving dinner for a family.

The winner will receive a Yeti cooler, several Yeti shirts, a 62-piece drive socket set, and several gift cards.

For those who may not be interested in purchasing raffle tickets, Webb said they are collecting non-perishables at Webb’s business LTL Flowers & Gifts in hopes of having enough supplies to be able to provide for several needy families.

Each family will receive a pre-cooked turkey from Boyd’s BBQ the day prior to Thanksgiving, along with several side dishes that will need to be heated up. In addition, one family will receive a gift card to a grocery store to allow them to purchase any items they need for Thanksgiving.

Webb encourages everyone to contact members of the club or her directly at 229-248-5426 to purchase tickets in order to provide for as many families as possible.

Tickets cost $5 a piece or five can be purchased for $20.

The drawing for the prize will be held at the cruise-in on November 14, and those entered do not have to be present to win.

“We thank you in advance for your support,” Webb said. “The more club our help gets; the more we can help others.”
