Mary Frances Cleveland was born October 5, 1947 in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of Roscoe and Leta Merle Hart Cleveland. She was a graduate of Attapulgus High School and earned an associate degree from Georgia Southwestern. Frankie married William “Buddy” Johnston in 1967 and they made their home in Bainbridge. Frankie taught at Bainbridge Christian School and later served “her customers” at Georgia Power until her retirement. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.

Frankie had a kind, gentle spirit and the patience of Job. She was always smiling and made every person she met feel at ease. She was strong in her faith and did not mind standing her ground in support of those she loved. Family gatherings were special times for Frankie and her home was always open for a get-together. She enjoyed reading and cooking but nothing compared to making memories with Brooklynn & Colton who filled her heart with joy.

Survivors include her husband of almost 53 years, William “Buddy” Johnston; her children, Jessica & Lee Ricketson of Lake Park, Ga.; her siblings, Eugenia Williams of Bainbridge, and Alan & Dorcas Cleveland of Thomasville, Ga.; her grandchildren, Brooklynn and Colton; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Frankie was preceded in death by her parents.
