The Bainbridge- Decatur County Recreation Authority announced Wednesday that parents can officially begin registering their children for fall sports. While the BDCRA team makes all efforts to play the season as usual, they are pushing the start date to September 7.

Director Al Kelley said children could participate in football, flag football or soccer this fall season.

For flag football there are two age groups: ages 3-4 and ages 5-6. To participate in tackle football kids need to be between ages 7-12.

Kelley said they are not limiting the number of children who can register, but in order to keep social distancing measures implemented they are following all GHSA guidelines.

Kelley said they are waiting to see how pre-registration goes before they can decide if they will have a full season.

“If not enough kids register, we may not have an entire season, but we will have something,” Kelley said. “I think these kids are ready to do something.”

Kelley said they are going to take it slow and not rush into starting the season. They may have to push the start date back further depending on how things pan out at school and what the signup numbers look like.

“We don’t want to be too quick to start,” he said.
