Firehouse Gallery to reopen July 4

Kirbo Gallery Director Phyllis Lucas is announcing the re-opening of the Kirbo Gallery on Saturday, July 4 at 10 a.m. It will feature a new exhibit of local artists and the public is invited to come visit the gallery and meet with Vicki Bailey and Lisa Mitchell DaSilva, resident artists, both of whom have art studios located in the gallery. Light refreshments will be served.

After being closed for several months due to the Covid-19 virus, the gallery is opening for viewing, and also scheduling a new round of So So Van Gogh classes that will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 9. The class will be taught by Bailey and DaSilva and the subject will be Happy Flowers. Cost is $40 and the evening will include wine and cheese along with the art instruction. Additionally, Lucas anticipates the Gallery will begin observing regularly open hours to the public from Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Just look for the sign on the sidewalk.

Although the Firehouse Arts Center will remain closed for the time being, and have had to cancel summer art camp due to health concerns, every effort is being made to keep arts alive in youth’s summer activities. Art Director, Lynn Davis says they are offering, “Art Take Out” bags that contain art projects for two different age groups. Each bag will have a variety of five different projects with all supplies, instructions and a 2020 Art Camp T-shirt. They will also contain two pre-drawn canvases, with paint and brushes, colored pencils and a drawing activity to frame in a mat, a mosaic with construction paper and a craft project.

Bags are being prepared for grades ( K-2) and (3-6) at a cost of $25 each. Contact the Arts Center for registration information by visiting the website bainbridge.art.com to register. Some bags will also be available for pickup at the Kirbo Gallery on July 4.
