On Thursday, May 21, at approximately 11 p.m., Bainbridge Public Safety officers were dispatched to an address on the 1300 block of Carter Street in reference to a shooting.  The caller told E911 that a young female was beating on her door and yelling that she had been shot.

BPS Captain Toby Miller arrived on scene and saw a female in the middle of the road who matched the description from the E911 call.  Miller approached the subject who was frantically screaming that she had been shot. Miller immediately began to administer first aid to the distraught female.  Officers Richard Collins and Christian Rich arrived on scene and took over care for the injured female until EMS arrived.

Miller spoke with a witness who stated he had heard three gunshots and directed him towards a vehicle parked down the road near the entrance to Jonas Lobe Cemetery. Miller cautiously approached the vehicle and noticed that it was wedged against some bushes and had been left with the driver’s door and both passenger side doors wide open.  He also saw a spent brass shell casing lying on the front passenger seat.  Shortly thereafter, BPS Investigators Mark Esquivel and Chris Jordan arrived and began processing the scene.

Over the next three weeks, a lengthy and thorough investigation ensued. Investigators Esquivel and Jordan conducted interviews with the female victim, multiple witnesses, and several subjects believed to have involvement in the case.  The investigation wrapped up on the morning of Wednesday, June 10, when three male juveniles were placed under arrest for the shooting.  The juveniles, ages 16, 16, and 14, were charged with Aggravated Assault and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery.  They were transported to the Decatur County Jail where they are awaiting transport to a juvenile facility.
