Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

By: Carah Jones

Editorial Intern

Hello to my hometown. My name is Carah Jones, and I have just started interning at the Post-Searchlight for the summer. I was born and raised in Bainbridge, and I am happy to be back and participating in the community once again. You may know me from First Baptist Church, where I have attended with my family since I was born. Or, you may know me from my experience with The Bainbridge Highschool marching band as a member of the danceline team. If I am an unfamiliar face to you, I hope to meet with you soon!

I am currently majoring in journalism through Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications at The University of Georgia, and earning a certificate in Entrepreneurship. I will start my senior year of college this fall. Since I’ve started college in Athens, I have pledged to Kappa Delta sorority and became my sorority’s representative for Wishmakers on Campus, a college campus extension of Make A Wish program that focuses on fundraising for granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

My favorite topics to research in the world of journalism are environmental, legal, health, and food. As a part of my internship with the Post-Searchlight, I will be writing a weekly column dedicated to food, recipes, local dishes and more. It is my goal to help shed light on how food groups can be used to satisfy more than just the taste buds, as the nutrients that come from what we choose to eat can benefit different areas of our minds and bodies.

I look forward to sharing what I have learned during my collegiate experience with my home community, and I am excited to learn even more throughout this opportunity. Be sure to look out for my column, Carah’s Calories, and know that I am always open to inspiration and ideas along the way.
