It’s looking more and more likely that the MLB will start again sometime in July.

Soccer fans will see their teams return to the pitch in July, too.

Currently, college football and the NFL have not made any official announcements to changes in their schedules, although much discussion has been made.

Locally, the Bainbridge Bearcats football team began summer conditioning this week. The Lady Cats softball team is working out. Summer camps are ramping up, and kids can finally get out of the house and interact in a healthy and safe manner with others their age (the parents are also glad to have a break, I’m sure!).

It has been a long three-month drought for us sports fans. Normally this time of year, I’d get home from work and instinctively turn on the Braves while grilling dinner. It’s a ritual I have missed dearly. Watching the NBA playoffs is also a favorite of mine, and the summer hasn’t felt like it really started without it.

But the light is at the end of the tunnel.

Shout it from the rooftops! Sports are coming back!
