Decatur County Tax Office makes adjustments for COVID-19

As a precautionary measure to guard against the Coronavirus and to help ensure the health and safety of the public and our employees, the Decatur County Tax Office closed at noon Tuesday to reconfigure the office to reopen Wednesday, as required by Governor Kemp’s Executive Order.

At that time, the office will only have two windows for service, so Tax Commissioner Mark Harrell suggested customers use online service or available drop boxes described below to avoid longer wait times. The due date on Mobile Home taxes has also changed from April 1 to June 1 in efforts to reduce the traffic in the office over the next few weeks. There will be no penalties or late fees charged until June 2, 2020.

The Decatur County Tax Office is asking all taxpayers, that have the ability, to conduct your business through our on-line services listed below.

Motor Vehicle: https://eservices.drives.ga.gov

Services available include tag renewal, duplicate registration, cancel registration, TAVT estimator, & many others.

Property Taxes: www.decaturcountytax.com (search & pay)

Services available include search & pay taxes, view & print property tax bills, property tax payments, property receipt, general information, and many others.

Payments in the form of Check or Money Order for Property Taxes or Tag Renewals may be placed in our Drop-Box by the front entrance of the Courthouse.

Payments over the phone will be accepted to avoid residents from having to come into the office. Be advised, due to an increase in calls, you may have to leave a detailed message, but the Tax Office will call you back the same day.
