John McKenzie died Sunday, February 16, 2020 in Birmingham, Alabama.

He was born n Bainbridge to J. Stuart McKenzie Jr. and Ellen Durham McKenzie. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School and attended Berry College and Georgia Tech. He worked in both Athens and Atlanta until an accident cut short his career in the construction trade.

John’s favorite past times were hunting and fishing. This was especially true when he went with his Dad on hunting expeditions to Argentina.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Stuart McKenzie III.

John moved to Alabama from Albany, Georgia several years ago. He is survived by his mother, Ellen Durham McKenzie; his aunts and uncles, Glenn and Ann D. Gunsallus of Bainbridge, Jack and Jane D. Anthony of Alex City, Ala. and Susan M. Lynah of Savannah and several cousins.

An announcement of the burial will be made at a later date.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
