Carolyn Burney McCain, 68, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Friday, February 21, 2020.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Walden officiating.  Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Centerville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Early County with Bainbridge High School Class of 1969 serving as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6: to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Integrity Cares, 303 E. Shotwell Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819.

Carolyn Harper was born March 27, 1951 in Blakely, Ga., the daughter of William Lawrence Harper and Juanita Gowan Harper. She was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1969. Carolyn worked as a customer service representative for Southeastern Minerals until her retirement. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Carolyn was known to be “at large and in charge”. She enjoyed working whether it was at the office or in the yard. Her love for God motivated her to be the hands and feet of Jesus with a willingness to always do her part plus some. She had a natural joy and strength about her that left others feeling positive and uplifted. Carolyn enjoyed traveling, especially those trips down memory lane with the Girls of 1969. Her favorite memories were those made with the family she adored.

Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Ed McCain; her children, McCall & Terrie Burney of Bainbridge, Joy Marie Mize of Michigan, Christopher McCain of Jacksonville, Fla., Tim & Kelsey McCain of Bainbridge, and Miranda Walden also of Bainbridge; her brother, Billy Jim Harper and his wife, Pat, of Tallahassee, Fla.; numerous grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her siblings, JoAnne Wade, Shirley Dodson and an infant sister.
