Bainbridge SwimCats celebrate season at banquet

The SwimCats and Lady SwimCats celebrated a successful season at the teams’ banquet on Tuesday, Feb. 11. 

Following a brief welcome and meal, Coaches  Heidi Chambers, Debbie Durham, and Eric Conner recognized the first year Lady SwimCats Kaitlyn Bennett, Rylan Bland, Ramsey Mathews, and Jaycee Maxwell followed by recognition of the Varsity Letter recipients Sandy Baker, Sarah Grace Ferrell, Maloree Inlow, Madison Mills, Paige Overman, Alex Riche’, Viviana Schuyler, and Madalyn Yancey. 

The SwimCats were then recognized:  first year swimmers, Josh Fillingame, Donye’ Mills, Brenden Mitchell, Garrett Sigman, Landon Watts and Dax Willis; and Varsity Letter recipients Austin Aldridge, Joseph Emmons, Thomas Emmons, Jonathan Farrington, Blake Lowe, Hayden Martin, Stokes Moore,  and Griffin Perkins.  Next, Scholar Athletes were recognized.

To be a Scholar Athlete, the student must have a 90 or above GPA and have scored at least a 1000 on the SAT or a 21 on the ACT.  Scholar Athletes for the SwimCats were Austin Aldridge, Sandy Baker, Jonathan Farrington, Blake Lowe, Hayden Martin, Brenden Mitchell, Stokes Moore, Paige Overman, Viviana Schuyler, and Garrett Sigman. 

Thanks to a donation from Envision Credit Union, the female and male swimmers with the highest GPA were recognized as Academic Award winners.  Paige Overman and Garrett Sigman received this honor. Swimmers who scored points at Region then received medals.   

Finally, the seniors were recognized. 

They thanked their parents and briefly told their future plans and then received the coveted senior towel.  Seniors who were recognized were Austin Aldridge, Sandy Baker, Joseph Emmons, Thomas Emmons, Jonathan Farrington, Blake Lowe, Brenden Mitchell, Stokes Moore, and Garrett Sigman.
