Bainbridge swats Yellow Jackets ahead of region play-in game next Tuesday

The Bainbridge Bearcats and Lady Cats basketball teams went a combined 2-4 over the weekend, both losing to Warner Robins on Friday but bouncing back for a region win over Thomas County Central on Saturday.

The Bearcats (13-11, 3-5 Region) fell 69-42 to the Demons. In double figures for the Bearcats was TJ Tarver with 10 points. Other scorers for the Bearcats were Tyrell Bryant with 8 points, KJ Cochran with 7 points, Mark Taylor Jr. with 6 points, Lathan Levens and Dewayne Kyles with 3 points each, Dorrian Cooper and Alvanni Williams with 2 points each and Ahmari Borden with 1 point.

The Lady Cats (10-14, 3-5 Region) fell 45-40 to the Lady Demons. Taralyn Brown led the team with 9 points. Other scorers for the Lady Cats were India Parris with 8 points, Detavia Salter, Kirston Noble and Angel Peterson with 7 points each and Anndrea Porter with 2 points.

The J.V. Lady Cats (7-4) won 45-41 in overtime in their game against Warner Robins. Zoe Wells led the way with 7 points. All nine players scored during the game.

The Bearcats beat TCC 59-44. In double figures for the Bearcats were TJ Tarver with 17 points, Lathan Levens and Mark Taylor Jr. with 11 points each and KJ Cochran with 10 points. Other scorers for the Bearcats were Alvanni Williams with 6 points and Tyrell Bryant and Dewayne Kyles 2 with points each.

The Lady Cats swatted TCC 70-27. In double figures for the Lady Cats were Kirston Noble with 17 points and Taralyn Brown with 15 points. Other scorers for the Lady Cats were Destiny Turner with 7 points, India Parris with 6 points, Denise Chappell with 5 points, Anndrea Porter, Detavia Salter and Taniah Register with 4 points each, Ashanta Peterson and Marquita Jakes with 3 points each and Angel Peterson with 2 points.

The J.V. Lady Cats (7-5) lost 35-32 in their game against TCC. In double figures for them was Courtney Sanders with 10 points. The J.V. Bearcats (15-2) won 55-24 in their game. In double figures for them were Zion Bouie with 15 points and Dialan Beard with 10 points.

Bainbridge will play Seminole County on Saturday at the Bainbridge Gym. On Tuesday, Feb. 4, Bainbridge will take on TCC again in a region play-in game to decided who will move on to the region tournament. The Lady Cats tip off at 6 p.m. and the Bearcats tip off at 7:30 p.m. at the Bainbridge Gym.
