ames M. “Jim” Jeter, 78, of Faceville, Ga., passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Johns and Dr. Ernie Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Greenshade Cemetery with his grandsons serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. James Milton Jeter was born January 29, 1941 in Albany, Ga., the son of James Jefferson Jeter and Fannie Duke Jeter. He graduated from high school in Miami, Fla. and worked as a technician for AT&T. Jim married the love of his life, Sharon M. Copsy, in 1960. In 1971, Jim & Sharon moved to the “Gateway to the Garden of Eden” (aka Faceville, GA) where they made their home. He retired at a young age from AT&T and became the CFO of The Country Workshop. He was a member of Faceville Baptist Church.

James, Jim, “Mitt”, Daddy, Papa…no matter the name you knew he was the ringleader of all the Jeter children in Faceville and the surrounding areas. Family was ALWAYS first. Many thought he was probably the Mayor of Faceville and he did serve as County Commissioner for District 5 over a twelve-year period with the best interest of his community at heart. “Mitt” loved an occasion for everyone to be together and that usually meant eating good/a fish fry. He was the president of the Okeechobee Fishing Club; those annual trips produced many tall tales of fishing, friendships and of course a good fish fry. He was quick on the draw with his dry humor and no one was immune. “Mitt” relaxed by mowing a little grass and watching the Miami Dolphins.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sharon Jeter; his children, Jeff & Lisa Jeter, Greg & Kim Jeter, all of Faceville, Cindy & Jeffrey Bevis of Colquitt, Ga., April & Aaron Goodman of Branford, Fla. and Amy & Steve Long of Bainbridge, Ga.; his grandchildren, Victoria & Steven, Nic & Leighann, Jake, Ellie, Jenna & Skylar, Andy & Jesse, Brock & Amanda, Bailey & Dillon, Alexis & Dominic, Lawton, Anna Beth & Kevin, Ivy and Alex; and his great-grandchildren, Carter, Cooper, Grady, Gray, Paxton, Tucker, Levi, Beckham and Nick. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Ann Woodward; and his grandson, James Adam Goodman.
