Bainbridge Gymnast-a-Cats light up first meet of season

The Bainbridge Gymnast-a-Cats were on the attack at their first meet of the year in Moultrie. Lanie Gay was outstanding in her first ever gymnastic competition, winning first place in all four events (vault, bars, beam, and floor exercise).

She also won first place all-around with a score of 37.7. Lanie had the highest all-around score out of all ages. Lanie’s all-around score was the highest all-around score of the entire competition.

Coach Melynda Murkerson said ,“Lanie is very hard working and a perfectionist, which really pays off.”

Coach Melynda Murkerson moved Lanie up to the next level. When a gymnast wins all four events with outstanding scores it is a solid gold performance.

The level one team won first place. There are five girls on the team and it five girls first meet ever! Their all-around scores were, Lanie Gay 37.7, Cadee Sammons 36.075, Janiyah Scott 34.725, and Kalli Wolford 36.525. Taking home twenty-five metals and a first place Team Award, coach Murkerson said she was blown away with their performance.

The level two team was just as amazing, winning first place team and twenty-five metals in their first level two competition. The gymnast’s all-around scores were, Anna Carnes 33.15, Jayllah Florence 35.675, Sage Russell 36.375, Carrington Smith 35.39, Sydney Owens 34.75. This was Sydney Owens first ever competition.

The level four team was on the prowl winning third place team and fifteen metals. The level four gymnast all-around scores were Emily Engram 32.05, Anna Claire Mock 31.175, Kara Overman 29.325

The level seven team won first place team. Their all-around scores were Bansi Patel 34.2 and Bailey Nunnery 33.05.

Dhara Patel competed in the platinum level and placed first on all five events.

Sage Russell, Bansi Patel, and Lanie Gay won the Coveted Champion Overall Award in their level.

Coach Murkerson said they had a very successful meet.
