Mr. Lawson R. Muggridge, age 79, of Cairo, Georgia, died Sunday, October 13, 2019, at Grady General Hospital. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 11:00, Thursday, October 17, at Eastside Baptist Church. The Rev. Andrew Donaldson will officiate.
Lawson R. Muggridge was born May 6, 1940, in Cairo, Georgia. His parents, Ralph Lawson and Ethel Sutton Muggridge, have preceded him in death. Lawson was a 1958 graduate of Cairo High School. He moved away from Cairo for many years and married Joyce Krug Muggridge. They moved back to Cairo and have lived here about 35 years. Lawson was a talented diesel mechanic. He used his talents to help many, many people. He could work on any sort of heavy equipment. He would hand-tool a part if necessary, to make a repair. He drove a semi for long distance hauling. Lawson has lived a full life. He taught water skiing, taught classes on how to be a diesel mechanic at Ft. Knox and was a pilot. Honest and loyal, he stood up for the “underdog”. Lawson loved to fish and loved animals. His special friend was his dog, Peanut. Lawson Muggridge will be missed by his many friends and family.
Lawson is survived by his wife, Joyce Muggridge of Cairo; his children, Machel Muggridge and Lamar Muggridge of South Florida; sister, Janice Muggridge of Tennessee; and one grandson, Frankie.
