Dr. Snyder had an educational background and was Professor of Mathematics Emeritus 1974-2009 at Bainbridge College. He obtained his master’s degree from Louisiana State University, and doctorate (PhD) at Florida State University. He loved to travel; he and his wife, Connie, traveled extensively throughout the world. Bill was very intelligent and shared his love for numbers with those who sometimes struggled with math, leaving an indelible mark. Generations of students fondly remember sayings like “Ours is not to reason why…” or “Gee, I’m a tree…” He was a quiet, sweet soul often found taking in all the details around him. Bill was generous with few knowing just how much he shared with others. He gave the gift of time to his students, family and friends. He loved unconditionally and expected greatness. Bill had a charming wit and a beautiful smile. In fact, his smile was so rich that even his beard seemed to be smiling. Dr. William H. “Bill” Snyder was a man much bigger than a math professor.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kimberly Tran; his parents, Harold W. Snyder and Marie Snyder; and his step-son, James Patrick Boyd.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-one years, Connie Snyder; his daughters, Sheryl Patten (Dwight) of Cairo, GA, Janet Snyder of Tallahassee, FL, Susan Heard (Edwin) of Bainbridge, GA, and Sara “Micki” Boyd Litwin (Scott) of Trussville, AL; his son, David Snyder (Cindy) of Greenville, SC; his grandchildren, Carolyn Walden, Christine Heard, Crystal Heard, Kattie Patten, Bobbi Snyder, Jake Snyder, Sylvia Heard, Alex Litwin, Ryan Litwin and Donnie Boyd; and his sister, Joanne Ryba of Naples, FL.

A Celebration of Dr. Snyder’s Life will be held 11 a.m.., Friday, September 13, 2019 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bobby Glover officiating.
