Jerry LeRoy Brock was born April 22, 1944, in Pelham, Ga., the son of Ruel Lee Brock and Maggie Louise Newsome Brock. He lived his entire life in the Vada area and was a member of Delwood Baptist Church. Jerry met many friends at the Camilla Wal-Mart where he worked as a greeter until his retirement.
An outdoorsman at heart, Jerry enjoyed working in his yard, playing horseshoes and fishing. During football season, Jerry was tuned in to the games and had a good time sharing insights with his friends. On weeknights, he kept himself sharp shouting the answers to questions on Family Feud. Jerry’s love for God was evident in the tunes of old gospel hymns he hummed as he worked. His family, and including those not blood related in some instances, and his church filled his heart with joy.
Survivors include his children, Tammy & Greg Dean of Hiawassee, Ga., Brian & Ramonda Brock of Vada and Daniel & Susan Brock also of Vada; his sisters, Eunice Freeman of Lakeland, Fla., Gladys Davis of Bainbridge, Ga. and Margie Singleton of Camilla, Ga.; his grandchildren, Kyle, Zack and Zibby; his great-grandchildren, Caleb, Gavin, Hunter, Gabe, Paityn and Finley; and a special friend, Sheryl Foister. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Brock; his brothers, J.E. Brock, Ruel Brock, Jr. and Rodney Brock; and his grandchildren, Brandy and Cameron.
