Not too late to help Memorial Hospital and Manor through tax credit program

For the third year in a row, Georgia taxpayers can earn income tax credits by supporting rural hospitals, including Memorial Hospital and Manor, through the Georgia Heart (Helping Enhance Access to Rural Treatment) program.

“During a time of unprecedented financial challenges for rural hospitals in Georgia, the state’s rural hospital tax credit has been a tremendous benefit for Memorial Hospital and Manor and the community we serve,” MHM CEO Jim Lambert said.  “We have used donations to purchase equipment, make security improvements, reduce debt, and offset indigent care costs.  In addition we have been able to make both aesthetic and structural improvements and repairs to our facility.”

Officials said future plans include remodeling aged building interiors, upgrading information technology systems, and purchasing equipment that will enable MHM to remain competitive in their market.

Hospital Authority Chairperson, Glennie Bench sees the Georgia Heart program as an excellent way to keep your tax dollars local.

“The ability to reinvest into our community and receive a tax credit is a compelling motivation for anyone wishing to help create sustainability for our hospital,” said Glennie Bench.

Currently the giving cap has been lifted and individuals and “C” Corporations can donate up to their maximum state tax liability as long as the $60 million annual statewide cap has not been met.

“We don’t want donors to miss this opportunity to receive a tax credit and enhance the healthcare in our community.  If individuals or “C” Corporations are interested in participating, please submit an application at www.georgiaheart.org as soon as possible before the cap is met for 2019,” encouraged Lauren Harrell, MHM Community Development Coordinator.
