She worked as a LINK instructor for Southern Airways teaching instrument flying to new pilots until the base closed. She then worked as a cashier and stock clerk at Winn Dixie until she retired. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Rentz of Bainbridge; her grandson, Garrett Rentz and his wife, Yvonne, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; her great-granddaughters, Braden Rentz of Panama City, Fla. and Reagan Rentz of Mt. Juliet, Tenn; her sister, Virginia H. Montford; her infant son, Charles William Montford; her infant daughter, Mary Evelin Montford; her brothers, Willie Earl Howell and James Macklin Howell; and her sisters, Ann Howell Macy and Martha Howell Montford.
