Two drivers hospitalized after accident on Hwy. 27

A three-vehicle accident on Hwy. 27 North around 7:45 a.m. Thursday sent one driver to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and another to Bainbridge Memorial Hospital with injuries.

According to Georgia State Patrol A woman driving a Dodge Nitro west on Birdsong Road pulled out onto Hwy. 27 North directly in the path of a Ford Explorer, which struck the driver’s side door of the Nitro. As the Nitro spun and stopped in the east ditch, the Explorer veered left and traveled through the median toward the Hwy. 27 southbound lanes.

The Explorer struck another Ford Explorer heading south before spinning and stopping in the west ditch. The second Exporer veered off into the west ditch and came to a stop.

Decatur EMS arrived on scene and transferred the driver of the first Ford Explorer to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and the Dodge Nitro driver to Bainbridge Memorial.

Traffic was redirected around the accident during investigation and clean-up of the wreck site.
