Marie Cora Lee Welch was born March 4, 1946, in Valdosta, Ga., the daughter of Larkin B. Welch and Willie Mae Mauldin Welch. She made her home in Bainbridge and worked for many years as the Seafood Manager at Dixie Dandy.

Marie never met a stranger. Staying busy with seven children meant she knew people of all ages and stages and was always on the go. Her faithful customers at Dixie Dandy always looked to her for a quick chat while shopping. Marie enjoyed sharing stories of her children and grandchildren’s shenanigans. She enjoyed the outdoors and could be found working in her garden, tending her plants or fishing when she had a spare moment.

Survivors include her children, Don & Patty Hoskins, James “Buddy” & Jennifer Hoskins, Sandy Griffis, Nita & Pudge Floyd, James & Tracey Colvin, Beverly Love and Steven Colvin; her siblings, Johnny & Dianne Welch and Nancy Sherrif; her grandchildren, Shane Hoskins, Shawn Hoskins, Sheldon Hoskins, Tyler Hoskins, Caitlyn Hoskins, Kayla Norris, Preston Norris, Jacob Floyd, Samantha Floyd, Bobby Riley, Jordan Hensley, Tristan Love, Carsen Love and Albren Love; her great-grandchildren, Gavin Hoskins, Ethan Hoskins, Vada Hoskins, Hunter Hoskins, Grayson Hoskins, Tanner Blair Hoskins, Lilli Hoskins, Addie Hoskins, Jayden Hoskins and Hazeleigh Hoskins; several nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Melvin Colvin. Marie was preceded in death by her parents.
