The American Legion is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization aimed at advocating patriotism across the U.S. through diverse programs and member benefits.

The American Legion Post #502 Located at 1032 Vada Rd, Bainbridge, GA 39817, celebrated a Commander’s Ball on March 17.

The Ball was nothing less than amazing.  Mr. JB Jones Presided, the Audience gave a roaring rendition of the American Anthem. The Prayer was delivered by Mr. James Burke, Mr. George Freeman made everyone feel welcome. Mr. Leon Hitchcock gave the History of American Legion Post 502. Mr. John Marshall, the  Post Commander’s introduced the speaker of the evening.

The speaker was Mr. William Simmons Jr. Vice Commander, American Legion Dept of Georgia. Mr. Herbert Smiley was the chairman of the program committee.

The Commander’s Ball was also celebrating the American Legion’s Birthday.

Next year the American Legion will be 100 years old.  The American Legion was organized in Paris, France in 1919 by Lt. Col Theodore Roosevelt Jr. who commanded the American Expeditionary Forces (A.E.F.), a group of 25 officers who served during World War I.
