Despite Jaylen Jones putting up 33 points on Shiloh Hill in the GISAA state semifinals last Friday, the Grace Christian Academy Cougars took a tough loss on the chin and fell 60-51.
Jones’ big night saw him go 12-of-20 from the field, hitting three 3-pointers, and hitting 6-of-13 free throws. He also had four rebounds a two assists.
The emotional game started off for Shiloh Hill from tip off, as they took a 18-11 after the first quarter and kept ahead 29-24 going into halftime. A slow third quarter saw both teams only scoring 8 points each, but Shiloh Hill ran away with it in the fourth, scoring 23 points to GCA’s 19.
The loss eliminated the Cougars from the tournament. Shiloh Hill won the state championship the next day.
Sam McRae had 12 points and 6 rebounds, and Jared Duke added 5 points to the board.
Seniors McRae, Duke, Clay Wells and Collin Woodrum were cheered for by family, friends and fans during and after the tough loss.
