Barracudas swim team wraps up 2017 season

The YMCA Barracudas smile together after a successful performance at the District 3 swim meet in Tifton.

The Bainbridge Decatur County YMCA Swim Team summer season was a great success.

The coach said all of the swimmers put in their best effort, and it was proven through the swimmers meeting their personal best times.

The Barracudas had 22 swimmers make the trip to Tifton, Georgia for the 2017 District Three swim meet and 11 qualified for state. The state qualifiers were: Ramsey Mathews in the 50 back, 50 Breast, 12 & under mixed medley relay and 12 & under mixed free relay, Carrington Smith in the 25 fly, and 100 IM, Carissa White in the 50 breast, 12 & under mixed medley relay and 12 & under mixed free relay, Timothy Longs in the 50 fly, 100 IM, 12 & under mixed medley relay, & 12 & under mixed free relay, Dawson Cottles in the 25 breast, and 100 IM, Taryn Powell in the 100 free, and 50 breast, Josh Fillingame in the 50 breast, 12 & under mixed medley relay, and 12 & under mixed free relay, Landon Harrell in the 50 free, Corbyn Thompson in the 25 back, Masey Tabb in the 50 back and Thad Whitaker in the 100 free.

After facing some fierce competition in preliminaries, the swimmers placed in the top eight in the state of Georgia.

Timothy Longs 3rd in 50 fly, 4th in 100 IM, 6th in mixed 12 & under freestyle relay, and 5th in the 12& under medley relay, Ramsey Mathews 6th in the 50 backstroke, 6th in mixed 12 & under freestyle relay, and 5th in the 12& under medley relay, Josh Fillingame 6th in mixed 12 & under freestyle relay, and 5th in the 12& under medley relay, Carissa White, 6th in mixed 12 & under freestyle relay, and 5th in the 12& under medley relay, Carrington Smith 7th in the 100 IM.

The Barracudas had a great summer season, and are looking forward to another great fall season, they said.
