The (hopefully) bright future of the UGA backfield

try not to get too wrapped up the in decision making process of teenagers who happen to be pretty good at football, but I can’t help but get giddy when I think about a potential get for Georgia.

Zamir White, nicknamed Zeus, is a five-star running back from Scotland County, North Carolina. This week he announced he would make his commitment to one of five schools next Tuesday at noon. He has Georgia, Clemson, North Carolina, Alabama and Ohio State on his final list.

Word is he’s known for a while which school is his pick, but the anticipation is leaving the rest of us sweating. Why do I let such a young man get me so worked up like this? I guess because I know what a major momentum push this would be for the 2018 class. Kirby and company did extremely well in the 2017 recruiting class, but I don’t want that to be just a flash in the pan. White coming to Georgia might attract some top-tier offensive lineman Georgia is targeting, as well as one or two of the five-star quarterbacks on the Dawgs’ list as well.

One other famous Bulldog came from North Carolina. He goes by the name Todd Gurley, and he’s hopefully set a precedent for running backs coming from the Tarheel State to UGA. If Georgia can bag Zeus on Tuesday, I think it will open up the floodgates for another outstanding class. Then it’s off to the races.

Now, the only way to make the backfield even better for the Class of 2018 is to add a certain running back from Bainbridge. We cheered for Keith Marshall/Todd Gurley and Nick Chubb/Sony Michel. What would Zamir White/Dameon Pierce look like?

It would look like championships.

Just sayin’.
