Bearcat baseball continues struggles on the diamond

Bainbridge took an early lead against Leon (Tallahassee) Tuesday at the Bearcat Diamonds, but couldn’t keep up as the Lions piled on runs in the third and fifth innings.

Leon made the score 3-1 in the third inning after getting runners on base and plating them off RBI singles.

A home run in the fifth inning and another RBI single put the Lions up 7-2. Bainbridge added a run in the sixth and seventh.

Dalton Harrell was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Noah Bryant went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Clark Wiggins, Caleb Boutwell, Keith Lyle and Carson Inlow each came home to score for Bainbridge.

Noah Bryant started on the mound for Bainbridge. He pitched four innings, allowing eight hits, four earned runs and striking out three. Walt Burrell came in for the final two innings, allowing one earned run and striking out one Lion.

The Bearcats played Harris County in a crucial region doubleheader Friday night. Next Friday, March 31, the Bearcats travel to Thomas County Central for a region doubleheader.

The Bearcats now sit at 7-8 on the year. The Bearcats are heading into the end of the season, with only seven games standing between them and their final game on April 17 against Early Co.

Only one of those final seven games is a region match up.
