Donie Virginia Grover was born March 12, 1925, in Cuthbert, Ga., the daughter of Harley Erastus Grover and Eula Eunice Ragan Grover. She was a graduate of Climax High School. Miss Virginia was a member of Sutton Chapel United Methodist Church.

Miss Virginia was quite a character. You never wondered where you stood with her. She loved people and sharing in their happenings. If you wanted to know what was going on, you could always ask Miss Virginia. She ran the gamut from working as a secretary/bookkeeper for Climax Milling Co., then as a teacher’s aid, to greeting patrons at the Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA and serving in the Pilot Club. She had a passion for cooking and shared this gift of hospitality as often as she could, especially during the holidays or on your birthday. Brunswick stew and southern fried chicken were two of her most requested dishes. Miss Virginia had a soft spot for children and many consider themselves to be on that list. She had a way of making each person feel like they were extra special.

Survivors include her sons, Wade Brock of Climax, and Wendell Brock of Atlanta, Ga; her sister, Margaret G. “Libby” Allen, of Greensboro, Ga; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Grover, of Climax; and her granddaughter, Renee Brock, also of Atlanta. Miss Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Wade Brock, Sr., and her brother, Wallace Grover.
