Dorothy Maxwell Odom, 81, of Brinson, Ga., passed away Monday, October 10, 2016.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Walden officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery with Dooly Powell, Jesse Powell, Harold Maxwell, David Ellis, Robert Scott, Carl Scott, and Larry Evans serving as active pallbearers. Men of Unity Church of God will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. Memorial donations may be made to Unity Church of God, 5092 Unity Church Rd., Iron City, GA 39859.

Dorothy Ann Scott Maxwell Odom was born November 23, 1934, in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of William Frank Scott and Vera Delores Seagers Scott. She spent 35 years as traffic director with WCTV, and also worked with Channel 40, and Channel 27. Dorothy also worked with Bates and Associates and the Senior Center in Bainbridge, Georgia. She did a lot of volunteer work. Mrs. Odom was currently serving as President for the Woodmen of the World in Bainbridge. She was a member of Unity Church of God in Iron City where she was a very active member. Dorothy could also be found volunteering her time with Hospice of SW Georgia. She was known for trying to help anyone in need and enjoyed making sure everyone had plenty to eat.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda McCann & her husband, Jim, of Brinson; her son, Ricky Maxwell & his wife, Donna, of Buena Vista, Ga..; her 5 grandchildren, Joshua Maxwell, Jared Maxwell, Justin Maxwell, Kristin Taylor, and Amanda McCann; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Julian Maxwell and Albert Odom, and her sister Mary Frances Tolliver.
