Cross-country finishes fourth

The Bainbridge Bearcat cross-country team came in fourth out of 20 teams around Southwest Georgia last Saturday at the Lee County High School Invitational.
Efrain Diaz led the Bearcats with a time of 19:23.70, coming in 17th out of the 200 runners.
Stokes Moore came in second for Bainbridge with a time of 19:50.90, Wright Cook took third with a time of 19:53.50, Haydn Griffin came in fourth with a time of 20:22.00, Andru Matthews clocked in at 21:13.20 and John Willis Maples came in at 24:19.60.
The Lady Cats were led by Uriyah Davis, who finished 16th in the girls race with a time of 23:44.41. Behind her was Camry Fillingame with a time of 24:30.10 and Lani Jackson with a time of 27:19.95.
Alaiya Schuyler crossed the finish line at 28:39.09, Julie Wells came in at 30:00.58, Chloe Enfinger at 30:37.68, Caitlin Shephard finished at 34:22.50, Makayla Ingram at 36:13.95 and Megan Hyatt at 39:46.75.
“We graduated a large part of the top runners last year so we are in the process of rebuilding the team,” said coach Lisa Enfinger. “We have some really strong competitive runners that should help us develop a strong team in the future.
Ashton Matthews led the Bainbridge Middle School boys (fifth out of 14 teams) with a time of 13:05.19 in the two-mile run.
Aiden Matthews wasn’t far behind with a time of 13:34.86. Landon Watts clocked in at 14:27.54, Connor Poitevint came in at 14:49.63, Titus Porter finished with a time of 15:40.44, Hunter Matthews came in at 16:31.20 and Jared Davis finished the Bearcats off in a time of 16:49.16.
The Lady Cats middle school team was led by Vivian Schuyler with a time of 15:00.52. She came in 13th overall.
“Vivian Schuyler is a very strong disciplined runner that we expect great things from,” Enfinger said.
Emma Briggs was a minute behind her with a time of 16:00.81. Anna Marie Hall came in at 17:52, Nyla Dumas finished 19:37.18, Courtney Donalson clocked in at 19:58.57 and Megan Breeden wrapped the race up with a time of 21:25.14.
The Bainbridge cross-country teams return Saturday, Sept. 17, for the Bearcat Invitational at Bainbridge High School. First race is at 8 a.m.
