Lady Cats fall to TCC

After a strong start to the season when they won five of their first seven games, The Bainbridge High Softball team is now mired in the a three game losing streak. The Lady Cats (5-5) fell to the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets (7-5) by the score of 11-2 in a mercy rule shorted five-inning game on Tuesday.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the top of the second inning. TCC had three singles in the inning and had two more batters reach on Lady Cat errors. All five base runners came around to score.

Bainbridge cut into the lead as they scored a run in the bottom of the second and the bottom of the third. Makayla Hamiliton drove in the Lady Cat’s first run with an RBI single to second base. Mckynleigh Harrell, who had walked to lead off the inning, scored on the play.

Harrell drove in the Lady Cat’s second run with a hard hit line drive to right field that allowed Tyra Jackson to tag at third and score.

TCC was able to pull away though as they added three runs in the top of the fourth for a 8-2 lead and three more in the top of the fifth to force a mercy rule 11-2 victory.

The Lady Cats were out hit 11 to five in the game and committed seven errors in the game.

Bainbridge faced Veterans High Friday night and will return to the field Wednesday for a home game against Thomasville.
