The Decatur County Fall Fair and Festival will be sporting a new nametag and new location when it rolls around this October.
In a unanimous vote by the Decatur County Chamber of Commerce Fair Committee, the fair will be moved from its location at the Decatur County Fairgrounds and set up at the Earle May Boat Basin.
The new name will be the Flint River Fair.
“I think it is time for change,” Chamber of Commerce President Adrienne Harrison said. “It’s been the same for years and years, but change is good.”
Harrison said she hoped the new location will attract more people by being at a more recognizable location in Bainbridge. Not to mention, everything will be visible from the Hwy. 84 Bypass.
“It’s been discussed for some time,” said Kevin Dowdy, Fair Committee Chairman “It’s an experiment to see if it will make it better. But there has been a lot of interest to possibly move up. This is an opportunity to improve the overall fair experience in Bainbridge.”
