Bernice DuPriest, 84, of Brinson, Ga., passed away Friday, June 10, 2016.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Newton Cranford and Dr. Dudley Chancey officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. DuPriest was born May 4, 1932 in Brinson, the daughter of John Osborn Hutto and Susie Margaret Josey Hutto. Blessed with a green thumb, she enjoyed her flowers and growing vegetables. She was a wonderful cook and many will always remember her little layer chocolate and caramel cakes. Ms. Bernice was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she served as the Sunday School Clerk for many years.

Survivors include her children, Vicki Chancey and her husband, Dudley, of Edmond, Okla., Diane Strickland and her husband, John, of Bainbridge, and Belinda Holt and her husband, David, of Attapulgus, Ga.; her brother, Cliff Hutto and his wife, Betty, of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Drew Chancey and his wife, Jules, Matt Chancey, both of Edmond, John Strickland, Jr. and his wife, Sara, of Columbia, SC, Jason Strickland and his wife, Jamie, of Bainbridge, Bill Holt and his wife, Kelly, and Allison Holt, both of Valdosta, Ga.; her five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Margie Howell Yawn and J.T. Hutto.
