Bearcats and Lady Cats named to All-region soccer teams

The Bearcats and Lady Cats were well represented on the 2016 All-Region 1-AAAA teams after strong seasons on the field.

The Lady Cats, who advanced to the state playoffs for the second straight season, had six players named to All-Region teams. Defenders Mary Mercer Reynolds and Alysha Stubbs were both named honorable mention All-Region. They each scored one goal on the season. Elizabeth Brinson was named a second team All-Region midfielder after contributing one goal and three assists on the season.

Summer Boyd and Haley Thompson where named first team All-Region midfielders and Derrical Williams was named first team All-Region as a defender. Boyd led the Lady Cats with nine goals on the season and she also had three assists. Thompson scored six goals and led the team with six assists. Williams, whose main role was as a defender contributed five goals and an assist on the season.

The Bearcats had nine players named to All-region teams. Defenders Lerone Broadnax and Evan Oldaker, defensive midfielder Nathaniel Lambert and midfielders Bennett Enfinger and Misael Rodriguez were named honorable mention All-Region.

Defender Corey Morrison, midfielder Jaycee Castro and goalkeeper Bryce Williams were all named second team All-Region. Jesus Contreras was named first team All-Region after lead the Bearcats with 13 goals and seven assists.

Caleb Harris was also named co-region freshman of the year after scoring three goals and assisting on five more.
