Kregg Close wins election for City of Bainbridge’s District A, Seat 4

Kregg Close was elected to fill the City of Bainbridge’s District A, Seat 4 Tuesday night, winning with a total of 181 votes.

Frank Flowers came in second with 127 total votes (39.44 percent) and Olive Wedderburn came in third with 14 total votes (4.23 percent).

“I just want to thank the other two candidates that did run,” Close said. “Dr. Flowers is definitely a class guy, and Ms. Wedderburn as well. I look forward to serving the district, and I look forward to working with those other two candidates, because they are in the district.

Wedderburn said, “Congratulations to Kregg.”

Close will be filling the seat of City Councilman Luther Conyers, who has served the city for almost 38 years.

“Luther is a great friend of mine, a mentor,” Close said. “He’s just like a grandfather that was there. Words can’t speak enough for him.”

Flowers could not be reached for a comment.

Four precincts were open for voting.
