Rachel Harrell’s fourth grade class at Grace Christian Academy helped raise the most money in a school-wide donation of $3,500 to the Mission Mbale Beds

A local church is continuing its mission work in Africa, working to raise $10,000 for water filtration systems after installing a well last year.

Fellowship Baptist Church will host a charity yard sale Saturday, Sept. 5 from 8 – 11 a.m. at 1420 E. Evans Street, in a grass lot between Bainbridge Pharmacy and Bainbridge Middle School.

The group is raising money for a follow up to the well it installed last year through Mission Mbale.

One year later, the donation from Fellowship Baptist combined with additional offerings donated from various churches and individuals many improvements have been made in the Ebenezer village in Mbale, Uganda, including:

Well being dug in Mbale, Uganda, for the orphanage.

Now, the church is working toward another trip in October of this year to install a water purification system in the newly dug well, providing clean drinking water for the village. The group will also assist the local pastor, Fred Mazune, with various improvements being made to the property and to minister to the orphans in this village.

Pennies for Posho, founded by Ted Moody, tours the country each year with The Ugandan Thunder Children’s Choir to raise awareness and money to feed approximately 6,000 orphans at 16 various orphanages through out Uganda. Pennies for Posho’s primary focus is to provide food to the children in Uganda, but over the years many churches have partnered with Pennies for Posho help cover addition needs of the various orphanages.

Mission Mbale is one of the support ministries under the Pennies for Posho umbrella that was founded by Warren and Mary Faye Moore of Newnan, GA.

Fellowship Baptist Church has been partnering with Pennies for Posho and hosting the Ugandan Thunder for many years. The common link through Pennies for Posho brought Fellowship Baptist Church and Mission Mbale together.

The Oct. 8 –19 mission team will be comprised of Rickey and Dena Donalson and their 13-year-old son Garrett, who are members of Fellowship Baptist in Bainbridge, along with Warren and Mary Faye Moore of First Baptist in Newnan, Georgia.

More information on the organizations and how to donate can be found on Mission Mbale’s Facebook page or by contacting MissionMbale@gmail.com.
