Barbara Phillips Watts, 77, of Climax, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at her residence.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Bainbridge Church of God with Rev. Jeremy Horne and Pastor Waylon Day officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Bradley Watts, Brandon Watts, Landon Watts, Russell Worek, Tim Langdon, Chris Kelley and Wade Lang serving as active pallbearers. The men of Bainbridge Church of God will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Ms. Watts was born July 29, 1938 in Climax, Ga., the daughter of G.D. Phillips and Monnie Josey Phillips. She was a graduate of Climax High School, where she lettered in basketball and graduated with the Class of 1957. She was the first female to show cattle in Decatur County. That year, she was showmanship champion. Ms. Watts retired from the Decatur County Board Of Education as a bus driver and a cafeteria manager. Barbara was a member of Bainbridge Church of God and loved her church. Ms. Watts enjoyed cooking and loved animals, but most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Deborah K. Watts of Climax, Monte Watts of Cairo, James D. Watts, Jr. and his wife, Amanda, of Climax and Phillip B. Watts and his wife, Carol, of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Heather Cristante (James), Bradley Watts, Brandon Watts, Brittney Watts, Blake Easters (Brandy), Ansley Watts, Landon Watts, Trey Watts, Brian Nix (Christy), Cody Nix (Brittney), Whitney Day; her 13 great-grandchildren and her special companion “Princess.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, G.D. Phillips, Jr., Jutson Phillips, Jack Phillips, Connell Phillips, E.W. “Shorty” Phillips, Pete Harrison, Laura Jones, Ernestine Horton and Rachel Grogan.
