John W. Phillips Sr., 86, of Georgetown, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Early Memorial Nursing Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Hovey officiating. Interment will follow at White’s Bridge Cemetery with Roger Wilbourn, Robbie Phillips, James Bennett, Andy Adkins, Jason Tabb and Tommy Phillips serving as active pallbearers.

Mr. Phillips was born December 3, 1928 in Colquitt, Ga. the son of Maston O’Neal Phillips and Leona Ruth Donalson Phillips. He worked for Miller Brewing Company as an industrial mechanic for many years and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Phillips was a Mason and a Shriner. He loved fishing and camping and restoring antique cars. Mr. Phillips was a talented musician who could play any stringed instrument.

Survivors include his children, John W. Phillips, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Georgetown, Roy Cecil Phillips of Colquitt, Jane Campbell of Bainbridge and Juanita Wilder of Bainbridge; his siblings, Maston Phillips and his wife, Pat, of Colquitt, Dollie Childree of Bainbridge, Katie Dasher and her husband, Jack, of Bainbridge, and Lois Wilbourn and her husband, Al, of Coolidge, Ga.; his grandchildren, Chris Phillips and his wife, Angie, Kim Bennett and her husband, James, Bobby Mills, Rocky Mills and his wife, Tessa, Levi Phillips and his wife, Shae, Angela Phillips and her husband, James, April Phillips, Becky Phillips, and Matthew Phillips and his wife, Casey; and his 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Earl Phillips.
