Mr. Robert Lee Jest Jr., 47, the second-born child of the late Robert Lee Jest and Blanchie Clarke Jest, was born June 10, 1967 in Colquitt, Miller County, Georgia. He departed his earthly life on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Wilson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia.
He was educated in the public schools of Decatur County, Georgia. Robert was a member of the Bainbridge High Marching Bearcats Band. He also enjoyed dancing and was a member of the dance group, the Tuff Brothers. He graduated Bainbridge High School in 1985 and attended the Bainbridge Junior College (now Bainbridge State College).
At an early age, Jest was baptized at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was a faithful member, singing in the Young Adult Choir as lead singer.
Robert worked several jobs during his lifetime. His employment included Bainbridge Health Care, Bainbridge State Hospital, Thomas & Betts and Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted and loving mother, Blanchie C. Jest of Bainbridge; five siblings: Callie Close of Bainbridge, Melissa Ware (Will) of Baker County, Georgia, Anthony Jest of Bainbridge, Tracy Jest of Lithia Springs, Ga. and Benny Jest of Bainbridge; nine nieces and nephews: Crystal Cooper, Ashley Jest, Darrell Cooper, Trey Close, Glenn Harris, Robert Weston, Graylon Harris, Taylor Harris, and Alexis McClure; six aunts: Mennie Clarke, Janice Miller (Jerry), Gracie Shephard, Betty Clarke Jones, all of Colquitt, Anita Sheffield (Thedric) of Brinson, and Doris Carter of Miami, Florida; seven uncles: Eddie Clarke, Daphaney Shephard, Stanley Shephard (Felisha), all of Colquitt, John Lee Clarke (Barbara) of Cairo, Timothy Shephard of Connecticut, Gary Shephard of Kansas, and Greg Shephard of Texas; and a host other relatives and friends.
Viewing was held Saturday June 6, 2015 from 10-8pm at Guyton Brothers Funeral Home. Services were held Sunday June 7, 2015 at Pine Hill M.B. Church. Burial was in Jonas Lobe Cemetery.
