M.J. Conyers

Mr. M.J. Conyers, age 92, of Donalsonville, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at Donalsonville Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Conyers were held on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Donna Sue Roberts officiating. Interment followed in Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with members of the Masons serving as active pallbearers and performing Masonic Rites.  Visitation was held on Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.

Mr. Conyers was born in Donalsonville, Georgia on August 25, 1922 to Daniel S. Conyers and Mittie L. Harrell Conyers.  He was a member of Salem Masonic Lodge #267 for 65 years and Reynolds Chapel United Methodist Church. He retired from Miller Hydro and continued to farm part time for many additional years.

He is survived by four children: one daughter, Dorothy Jones and her husband William of Prattville, Ala., and three sons, Joseph Conyers and his wife Patricia of Bainbridge, Dewayne Conyers and his wife Jeannie of Ashford, Ala. and William Conyers and his wife Roxie of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and sister-in-law, Rose Donalson of Bainbridge.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Conyers was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel S. Conyers and Mittie L. Harrell; his wife Ada Mae Burke Conyers; a brother, Frank Conyers; and a sister, Lavonia Crenshaw.
