The Bainbridge golf team placed third place in the Region 1-AAAA tournament at Cairo County Club last Thursday, falling behind Thomas County Central in first and Cook County in second.

Brenden Greene shot an 88, Christian Novak shot a 95, Jones Gossett had a 90 and Bryce Howell had a 95.

Last Saturday, TCC hosted their inaugural Jacket Invitational at the Country Oaks Golf Course. Coach Tom Wheeler said the Bearcats shot their best rounds of the year.

Greene had an 80, Gossett shot an 83 and Novak shot an 89.

“Our young golfers need to play year round and not wait for the season to roll around to get the clubs out. Until then, we will finish second or third in the region,” Wheeler said. “They have the potential to compete for the region championship, golf is a tough game and very competitive in this State, but it’s like everything else, if you want to be good at something, you must work at it.”
