 Mr. Marvin E. Kelley of Colquitt died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 4, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tony Mock and Rev. Gary Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Kelley Cemetery with Phillip Brooks, Dole Cook, Jr., Stanley Cook, Jimmy Haywood, Tommy Hunter, Bruce Kelley, Reggie Kelley and John Williams, Jr.  serving as pall bearers. Visitation will be Saturday, April 4, 2015, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Colquitt Funeral Home.

Mr. Kelley was of the baptist faith. He was born August 30, 1933, to Rufus Aubrey and Rosa Lee Wells Kelley in Miller County. After living in Columbus for many years, Mr. Marvin returned to the home place in 1969 to raise his family. He spent many years farming, raising hogs, cows, and chickens. He loved the land,  fishing, hunting, and camping. He was an avid reader and  crossword enthusiast, rising every morning to work a puzzle while drinking his coffee. He loved his family and enjoyed entertaining them with hilarious stories from his past. Mr. Marvin spent many weeks in Parrot, GA, filming scenes for The Long Riders in which he played several scenes as an extra. He later played an extra for the movie, The Time for Miracles which was filmed in Westville, GA. He was a benefactor of the NRA and a member of the Sons of Confederacy. Mr. Marvin loved his southern heritage and spent the last 60 years trying to hide the fact that he married a yankee.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lenore Huston Kelley of Colquitt, GA; three sons, Kevin (Cindy) Kelley of Bainbridge, GA, Danny (Nina) Kelley of Ochlocknee, GA, Brian (Sherrie) Kelley of Colquitt, GA; two daughters, Kim (Bo) Haywood of Colquitt, GA, Lee Anne (Danny) Sheffield of Colquitt, GA; 13 grandchildren, Travis Kelley, Melissa Haywood Cleveland, Michael Haywood, Brandon Kelley, Jeremy (Leah) Kelley, Mandy Kelley (Michael) Griffin, Scott Kelley, Shay Glover, Zach Kelley, Samuel Sheffield, Matthew Brooks, William Brooks, and Danielle Sheffield; eight great grandchildren, Krislyn, Konnor, and Kenslee Kelley, Matthew, Seth, and Hayes Cleveland, Ridge Haywood, and Scarlett Kelley; his beloved dog, Maggie; two sisters, Bernice Walden of Columbus, GA, and Pat “Tricia” (Larry) Holzknecht of Colquitt, GA; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
