Lynette Spooner, 65, of Attapulgus, Ga., passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Johnson and Rev. Dana Swain officiating. Interment will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery with Donald Logue, Jamie Ard, Billy Brown, Sid Copeland, Ronnie Spooner, Greg Brown, Tommy Haire, and Terry Presnal serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the teachers and staff of John Johnson Elementary School.

Mrs. Spooner was born May 30, 1949 in Quincy, Florida, the daughter of Marshall Sullivan and Carlene Faircloth. Lynette was currently serving as an assistant librarian at John Johnson Elementary School. Previously, she was the bookkeeper at Lillian E. Williams Elementary School in Attapulgus until it closed. Lynette was a member of Attapulgus Church of God. She will be remembered for her love for her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family and reading.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, James Earl Spooner of Attapulgus; her children, James E. “Bubba” Spooner, Jr. of Bainbridge,  Shannon Spooner and his wife, Karyn, of Faceville, Cathy Spooner of Attapulgus, and Krista Jones of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Justin, Garrett, Leigh, Jesse, Erin, Masen, Hannah, and Luke; and cousins including, Buddy Rudd, Hershel Rudd, Jerry Rudd, and Patricia Hayes.

Mrs. Spooner was preceded in death by her parents and Lucy Mae Rudd.
