Albany’s Dougherty High School Trojans, the Region 1-AAAA team coach Jeff Littleton’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats will face in their annual homecoming football game Friday night at Centennial Field, features a spread offense led by four-year starting quarterback Michael Whatley, Jr.

“Whatley really throws the ball well,” Littleton said. “Their sophomore tailback Keithtavios Cobey is a powerful runner with good speed. Their junior running back Ladarrien Royal also runs well.”

Littleton said the Bearcats (4-3) would have to work hard this week to stop the Trojans’ offense after Worth County’s strong effort against Bainbridge in the second half last Friday.

“We will have to be ready Friday night because Dougherty can hurt you throwing or running,” Littleton said. He also said the Trojans defense is multiple and they usually line up in a five-man front.

“Dougherty’s senior nose guard Kentavios Trent really plays hard and is in on a lot of tackles,” Littleton said. “We need to do a good job of blocking him.”

The Trojans, who are 2-3 for the season, also feature a group of talented young wide receivers.

Receiving targets include sophomore Justin Kiser, sophomore Karon Allen, sophomore Deshon Austin, sophomore Terrius Whitehead, sophomore Henry Whitlock, and tight end is sophomore Deik Davis.

Sophomore Faustino Francisco will handle the Trojans punting and place kicking chores.
